DSpace helps Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority has engaged Prosentient Systems to set up and configure its DSpace open-source digital repository.
GBRMPA is responsible for managing the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park so that it is protected for the future. The Authority relies on the best available scientific information and engagement with experts and the community. Services to protect and manage the Reef range from issuing permits, providing advice on marine management and operating an education centre and aquarium.
The Authority chose the AgriOcean version of DSpace, specially customised by United Nation's agencies to support scientific literature in the fields of oceanography and agriculture.
AgriOcean customisations include support for specialist metadata sets, controlled vocabularies, authority control for specialist journals and type-based submission. AgriOcean on DSpace is made freely available for download by any interested research institution.
