Admininstrators use the Manage a metadata element page to customise metadata elements InterPublish.
Metdata elements contain the descriptive information that accompanies an online document such as Title, Author, Date, etc.
InterPublish does the following with the metadata items defined through this page:
- takes the information provided and searches for these metadata items in documents on the sites being scanned
- creates matching metadata fields in the Review & publish and the Review & alert forms for working with candidate documents
- maps these metadata fields in InterPublish to corresponding Dublin Core or MARC fields to be populated when the document is exported to other library systems
The following fields are used to define a metadata element in InterPublish:
- Instance name - the name of your InterPublish application
- Medatadata element - the name of the metadata element, eg. Author, Title, etc.
- Table authority - the location of an authorities file in an SQL table
- Ajax authority URL - the location of an authorities file in JSON text format
- Ajax exclusion terms URL - the location of a keyword exclusion list in JSON text format
- DSpace element - a Dublin Core element in an external repository to which this metadata should be mapped
- MARC field - a MARC element in an external catalogue to which this metadata should be mapped
- Scan contents for metadata - Y/N ?????
- Used with ranking - whether to have the application rank results according to weighting criteria
- Ranking positive ranking weight - a positive number to add to the ranking on finding a match with the authorities file
- Ranking negative weight - a negative number to add to the ranking on finding a match with the exclusion list
- Mandatory - whether it will be mandatory for this metadata field to be completed during Review and publish
- Order on form - where this metadata field will be displayed on the Review and publish form
